Dear Diary
Today, I woke at 5 as usual and picked up breads and milks from the bakery. I head down to Duc LaVinge’s house. I met other maids and babysitters at the kitchen and hand them breads and milks for their breakfast. I gave Marguerite Macoux an extra piece of bread. I’ve always liked that girl, she was young, about my sister’s age. She always smiles and she looks my sister. As I gave Marguerite an extra piece she looked at me and I winked back at her. After, I went to wake up the children. While I was feeding children their meal they were complaining that they want to eat cake, so I told them I’ll get them cake for treat. They wanted to go outside until their tutors came, so they went outside to the garden. They sat down at their seats outside and played cards. I watched them play and fixed them a snack. When their tutors came, I got dressed to go outside for their cake. And other necessities Duc LaVinge and Mistress LaVinge had asked for. I went out to the market and I met Marguerite who was ordered to go buy supplies, which the other maid was supposed to go and get. I first headed to the bakery, and I met Joseph, the baker. I got the favorite cake of the children. It’s very good, I was able to have some leftovers and it was very very delicious. Anyways, after I headed back to the market and got their necessities, while heading back to the house, I saw Marguerite heading to the house as well! She smiled at me when she saw me and I smiled back. I knew her for quite awhile now, she’s been working at the house to support her family and cure her mother’s illness. We heard a loud noise while we were returning back, and there was a huge crowd of women running towards the direct we were heading to, we were so scared we moved out of their way. Marguerite wanted to follow them, and I was a little curious we went to follow them. The crowd was continuously yelling out “Bread! Bread!” Marguerite asked the lady who was next to us, and she told us that “we’re going to storm the palace and demand bread.” Marguerite and I were quite surprised, we never heard of such. I heard about how people weren’t able to afford much bread, because of it’s high price. The price of the bread got about 50% higher than it was before. I thought this was ridiculous how were people suppose to live off when almost more than half of our income goes to food.! We realized that it was getting dark and soon tutor will go and I have to look after the children again. And Marguerite needed to go home fast because she was worried about the scold that she would get from the mistress LaVinge. We talked about what we have saw about the bread price increasing and such but we couldn’t talk for awhile because we arrived at the house pretty early. I prepared the dinner the cook have cooked for them and gave them their cake. Soon after such tiring day, I finally returned to my house. I talked to my family about what I’ve seen and my sister and my mother saw it as well! My sister thought that those women were very brave able to stand up for their opinions, and even though they know about the consequences she thought it was brave for them to actually stand up and put something together. My mother thought of it as not such a good thing. She thought it would cause some trouble in the future. Well, honestly I thought it was pretty impressive, those women standing up for themselves and being able to stand up for such ridiculous bread price increasing. I won't be able to do so... I support what the women believe in and what they are doing but I don't think I am ever going to be that brave or that willing to risk my life on that. But on the other hand, like my mother said I think it will lead to some trouble in the future, I’m not sure how it’s going to turn out, but I believe that it's not going to change the price of bread by doing so. This riot seems like it shows that we are angry at this ridiculous increasing bread price and that we can stand up for what we believe in but I honestly don't think that it would affect the price of bread. Anyways it’s been a very tiring day. I should go to my bed for tomorrow!

Dear Diary....
It was a big day for me.. I met my long lost brother. I never knew I would get any chance of meeting my brother. I went to watch a play because Duc LaVinge gave a day off. The play was a French satire performance. While watching the play there was this boy playing a subordinate role, and he seemed vaguely familiar to me. He awfully looked alike my long-lost brother. The play was very interesting. My brother who was lost when he was 11, possessed innate acting ability. Although the play was very interesting I couldn't concentrate because I was too busy looking at the boy who was playing a subordinate role. After the play, in the hope that the boy would be my brother I shouted "Is that you, Tristan Petit?!" And the boy enthusiastically answered "Sister Elizabeth, is that you!?" I was shocked, he was my long-lost brother after all! We hugged for awhile shedding tears. Tristan only had roughly 3 hours until his second play starts. As we went out of the performance there were about 1200 people taking Louis XVI. I heard he locked out the third estate representative from Estates' General Assembly. Well, in my opinion I didn't like how Louis XVI ruled, but I don't think it was really right to put the king under the Guillotine. Tristan told me that today might be the day when Louis XVI would be put under the Guillotine, and he seemed really enthusiastic… He believed that after Louis XVI pasts away, France would be ruled by rightful leaders. He told me that his fellow actors told him that Louis XVI ruined the nation. I also believe he did. Putting poor citizens with high bread prices, putting France in such huge dept. But again not right to put the king under the Guillotine. Louis XVI was put under the Guillotine and the blade dropped. Many people were cheering and soaking blood with their hanker-chief. I just stood their quietly in the back while Tristan was cheering. After Louis XVI past away, Tristan only had few more minutes so we had to head back. We promised each other to meet another day in the future. Now that our king pasted away, I think the nation would get quite loud and it would be out of order without an ruler even though he wasn't a good one, but we still need a ruler. I'm guessing that by the death of Louis XVI it won't affect my life so much. Which meant I have to go and babysit Duc LaVigne's children again tomorrow. I should be off to bed now!

Journal #3:
Dear diary,
Today was another usual day for me. I think I woke up at 5 but the calendar system changed so it’s very confusing now... I’m curious if I’m the only one who think of this system as confusing and an odd system. We don’t have Sundays anymore and in a day there’s only 10 hours and 100 minutes in an hour. So that means I almost sleep the whole day, and the children sleeps a whole day! This system was very unusual and weird. And hard to understand. But it wasn't bad, I think I can get used to this system. I don't have much against this system or much for this system. Anyways, when I was heading out to Duc LaVigne’s house I saw Renaud Durand he asked me to come over to his house because his wife was sick! His wife was one of my close friend, but I had to go and look after Duc LaVigne's children first so I told him that I would be there soon after I take care of the children. and I prepared children their lunch and I was looking after them, they wanted to play out in the garden and then they got tired and they came in and took a nap. Later, when their tutor came I woke them up and while they were getting tutored I went out to Jean George’s market to get Madam LaVigne’s necessities for today. I bought few necessities and I asked Jean what time it was and she was very confused, she wasn’t sure how to tell time with the new system! I knew I wasn’t the only one who found this system confusing. We talked a lot about this new calendar system. Jean told me that she heard that they got rid of Sundays in order to remove all religious and royalist influence from the calendar. Because the sky was getting dark, I knew I had to hurry, so I hurried back to Duc LaVigne’s house and I wasn’t late. After I organized and put away the necessities that I bought where it needs to be placed tutor ended. I quickly prepared them dinner and after they were done I put them off to bed and I left off to Renaud Durand's house. His wife was sick so I was taking care of his wife and I was looking after their children by giving them some toys. And soon after Renaud came, he handed me many utensils such beautiful spoons, forks, and knives! I was truly amazed and so thankful. I thanked Renaud number of times and I went off to my house. It was another tiring day but it was worth it I got to be able to see my close friend once again! And also on the bright side I get to be able to think that I rest a whole day! So I go to work every 2 days! And if this system continues on I'm guessing clergies and nobles would start to lose their power little by little?! I heard a rumor that they would sell first estate's lands to take care of debt of France! I'm not necessarily sure about it but if this happens I think it would make the situation better than it is now! I'm guessing I get a day off and I'll have to go and work.
